Oliver brings a wide range of teaching and mentoring experience to his tutoring practice, shaped by roles in classrooms, field education programs, and experiential learning environments across the U.S. and abroad. With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and History from Colorado College, Oliver combines academic rigor with a passion for hands-on, place-based learning.

He has served as a mentor at The Island School in the Bahamas, a field instructor with Teton Science Schools in Jackson, and a senior counselor and medical lead at Elk Creek Ranch, where he designed and led extended backpacking expeditions. These experiences have sharpened his ability to guide students not only in academic work but also in developing resilience, problem-solving, and leadership. His professional background also includes time with Jackson Hole Mountain Guides and Colorado College’s Gear House, where he taught both technical skills and practical knowledge.

Oliver’s certifications as a Wilderness EMT underscore his commitment to safety, responsibility, and preparedness—qualities he brings into his work with students. At the core of his tutoring philosophy is the belief that learning should build confidence and curiosity. His goal is for students to leave each session not only with stronger academic skills, but also with a deeper sense of independence and excitement for discovery.
